This book is a "fractured fairy tale," or a twisted/silly version of the children's classic, "The Gingerbread Man." In this version of the Gingerbread Man story, Ginger is the one doing all of the eating. This story works great as a companion to the classic story so that students can compare and contrast the two stories.
Text Included:
"When Ginger got hungry,
one bright, sunny day.
He swallowed a lady
and went on his way.
He swallowed a man
and he swallowed a pig.
He swallowed a pig
that was bigger than BIG.
He swallowed a cow
and he swallowed a horse.
A cow and a horse
are a mouthful, of course...."
