Sequencing Stories For Thanksgiving
These Sequencing Stories include two adapted books that provide students with lots of fun and hands-on practice for working on identifying shapes, basic story sequencing skills and making a shape turkey craft. "No Shape For Thanksgiving," and "This Is How We Make a Shape Turkey," are fun and interactive Thanksgiving or turkey themed books.
In the first book, "No Shape For Thanksgiving," Thanksgiving is here and Farmer Brown cannot believe the shape his turkeys are in.
Sample text:
"It was almost Thanksgiving and Farmer Brown could not believe the shape his turkeys
were in.
You're in no shape for Thanksgiving, he told Squyres. You're stumpy and boxy and shaped like a square.
And your'e in no shape for Thanksgiving, he told Trina. You're pointy and bent and shaped like a triangle.
And you're in no shape for Thanksgiving, he told Rex. You're long, and stretched and shaped like a rectangle...."
In these activities, the teacher reads the books to students as students follow along and identifies a shape and matches a piece to each page. At the end of the stories, students will sequence the shape turkeys in the order that Farmer Brown talks to them.
There are also "Biggie Shapes" Activities included with this set. These include shape words cards, clip cards dry eraser cards and worksheets so that students can practice identifying shapes.
The second book, "This Is How We Make A Shape Turkey" is a how-to sequencing book that teaches students how to make a shape turkey craft. Students can follow along and make the turkey. They can also practice sequencing the steps of making the craft with the book.
