"Where Is The Fish?" Arctic Animals Themed Adapted Book

This Arctic Animals Adapted Book, "Where is the Fish?" is fun and interactive winter themed adapted book that focuses on Arctic animals vocabulary, matching skills, position words, Wh-questions, and sequencing story events. There are many Arctic animals in this story, including some that we don't often see in the the simpler books.

In this interactive activity, a teacher or therapist reads the story, as students follow along and match a picture piece to each page. At the end of the story, students answer basic comprehension questions by choosing the correct answer piece that goes with each page.

Students working at an independent level can read and work through the book at a literacy center or independent work station. The book includes plenty of repetitive text and rhyme for beginning readers.

In this silly Arctic themed story, there is trouble on the ice. Bear's (polar bear) fish has gone missing and none of the other animals on the ice can seem to find it.

"Where is the fish? Where did it go?

Bear tried to find it, but he really didn't know!

He looked beside the iceberg and he heard a

"Swooshing-swish!"

He found a mound of snowballs, but he didn't find the hat!

"Where is the hat? Where did it go?

Moose tried to find it, but he really didn't know!

He looked above the cabin and he said,

"Imagine that???!"

He found a little puffin, but he didn't fine the fish.

This book also includes a bonus, "Sequencing Stick" activity. After the story, students practice sequencing events of the story on a paint stirrer. (See photos for details.)
